Minister visits UNESCO Maldives site

On a recent visit to the UNESCO Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, the Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Mr Ali Shareef, visited the Remote Monitoring and Surveillance station in the Mendhoo Region.

Sirius Insight's surveillance technology is helping the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Rangers protect one of the Maldives’ most important marine environments, enabling them to monitor movements and receive real-time, 24/7 alerts of suspected illegal fishing and poaching, as well as vessels at risk of damaging sensitive reefs. This enhanced visibility enables Rangers to respond quickly and effectively to potential threats.

We’re proud to support the Reserve Rangers in their vital work and to play a role in protecting the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, a globally recognised centre of marine biodiversity.
