Apprentice Project Day

Apprentice Project Day

We were delighted to see two of our apprentices Matthew and Joaquin showcasing their BTEC Projects at events hosted by PETA Training and Consultancy.

These events brought together Mechanical and Electrical apprentices, who presented their final projects to peers, staff, and employers. Projects spanned themes of safety, efficiency, and sustainability, reflecting the real impact apprentices make in their organisations.

Reflecting on how their projects have provided innovative engineering solutions to tackle real work engineering challenges, Matthew said: “My project tackles the challenge of overheating control units operating in harsh, hot, and tropical coastal environments. By applying reliable and proven technology, I developed a compact cooling system capable of maintaining electrical components below ambient temperature. This improvement enhances component lifespan, reduces failure rates, and most importantly, helps ensure uninterrupted service for our customers.”

Joaquin described how his project was initiated as a way of improving the testing process: “We needed an indoor and modular testing area that allows us to quickly connect and test our cameras, as well as our outdoor sensors. Having access to quick-release mounts and pre-terminated cables drastically cuts down the number of steps in our testing process, leading to a more reliable and efficient process."

Well done to both Matt and Joaquin on the excellent progress with their qualifications, while contributing to Sirius Insight's culture of continuous improvement.
